My Silenced Marathon… My Life…

About

Hey! I am Anne, and I have a rare genetic disorder, Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), which I found out about when I was 7. Every case of NF is different, as it can cause tumors to grow anywhere in the body; most people with NF2 become deaf from the bilateral auditory nerve tumors. In March 2007, I ran my first full marathon, yes, 26.2 miles, at ING Georgia Marathon, with the NF Marathon Team!  Just 10 days later, I became fully deaf in April 2007 when I had my second auditory nerve tumor removed. Last fall, I transferred to RIT / NTID, and it is awesome! (other than the freezing winters) I run on the varsity Cross County Team! Please help me raise money for research, so that a cure can be found for NF! I ran NYC Marathon 2008, also for Children’s Tumor Foundation! ….and plan to run Boston, someday! ) “I love to run! It is fun!” – me

Why I continue this blog…

Because its awesome, and I also hope it may help spread some awareness for  Neurofibromatosis and Children’s Tumor Foundation … by connecting through Deaf Village bloggers.

Why I started this blog….

A number of friends, family, and even an English teacher, have told me that I should write a book. (Yeah, sure! No way! I don’t have time!) So anyways I decided to start a blog on here. I am very busy with college, but I will try to continue adding things that I write, ones that I like, or seem related. Some are for my classes, but I think it is cool. …Maybe… big maybe … I will write a book… someday… like, maybe someday, before I die…. when I’m really old!
